This is a long-overdue Thank You to each and every one of our customers.
In February Don’s Custom Meats celebrated 23 years of business. After all these years we were reminded of how loyal and supportive our customers and friends are to our family. Don was taken to Aultman Hospital in the early morning on Friday January 10th, 2014, after experiencing slight pain and discomfort in his upper chest and lower neck. A CAT scan was ordered and revealed that Don had an aortic dissection (a tear in his aorta) and needed emergency open heart surgery. After a long four days in the hospital, Don was released to come home and continue his recovery.
One of the staples of our business is the close relationships we have with each of our customers, and news of Don being in the hospital traveled quite quickly. We received phone calls, visits, cards, prayers and well-wishes from each of our customers and friends who walked into the store. The support we received was overwhelmingly gratifying.
Don is recovering well, and makes a little bit of progress each day. Most recently, he made strides as he put on his apron and got back to work at the butcher shop for a few hours. Our family is beyond blessed to be surrounded by so much love and support from the community. We only ask that you remember to tell your loved ones how much you love them every chance you get. Tomorrow truly is a gift, and not a promise.
We cannot thank each and every one of you for the thoughts, cards, and prayers for Don and our family through such a difficult time. Words will never be enough to express how grateful we are to you all.
Much Love and Gratitude,
Don, Kathy, Donny Jr., Kara, & Kelly Pontones
